§ 10-69. Temporary suspension of local certificate of competency requirements for state registered contractors during periods of declared emergency.

  • In the event that all or part of the county is declared by the governor of the state or the President of the United States to be a disaster area as a result of a hurricane, tornado or other similar natural disaster, the local certificate of competency requirements described in section 10-22 shall be suspended. Any contractor who holds a valid state registration in any of the regulated contractors categories in the county may be empowered to secure building permits based on that valid state registration. With the expiration of the issued disaster declaration or the cancellation of any locally declared state of emergency, the provisions of section 10-22 shall become fully effective once again.
