§ 24-91. Short title, authority, and applicability.
(a)
This article shall be known and may be cited as the "Law Enforcement Impact Fee Ordinance."
(b)
The board of county commissioners has the authority to adopt this article pursuant to Article VIII of the Constitution of the State and to F.S. ch. 125 and F.S. §§ 163.3201 and 163.3202(3).
(c)
The county sheriff's department provides county-wide law enforcement, court security and correctional security throughout the county pursuant to the authority granted and required under Article VIII(1)(d) of the State Constitution and F.S. ch. 30.
(d)
The county must collect law enforcement impact fees in order to provide the sheriff's department with funds to adequately provide law enforcement services for all county residents, including residents of the cities. Development within the cities impact the sheriff's department capital needs.
(e)
This article shall apply to all areas of the county, even in the absence of interlocal agreements with the affected municipalities.
